Our upcoming unit is our first unit in place value. Place value is an important concept that is foundational for future math understanding. I recommend that all families utilize the following vocabulary to build your child's mathematical foundations:
Captain PTO Auction and Party
Let the gallery walls be your inspiration---bid on grade-level art created by students during the Silent Auction. Sign-Up for exciting parties for kids and adults: there's something for everyone! Local artist, Jennifer Hayes, will "paint live" during the party; then raise your paddle during the exciting Live Auction to take home her finished masterpiece (one of many fabulous premiere items up for bid).
Important Info About This Year's Auction:
- Silent Auction--Focus on Art: Under the guidance of our talented art teacher, Mrs. Marquart, all or most students in each grade have created a finished, framed work of art! The silent auction will feature SIX masterpieces. Must be present to bid!
- Sign-Up Parties-: A long-time favorite of Captain kids and parents alike. Choose from a variety of parent-hosted parties, including a pasta-making party led by chef-parent Kevin Nashan and a True Fusion cardio dance party, plus many more. Sign-up parties always fill up fast so plan to attend in order to sign up for child and parent parties!
- Live Auction hosted by Parent Trio: This year our live auction will be emceed by three of our favorite Captain parents: Ben Beinfeld, Michela Henke-Cilenti, and Tony Kirk. A trio of epic proportions not to be missed. Oh and there are some awesome items to be had, including the finished masterpiece of Live-painting artist Jennifer Hayes and a week's stay in Tuscany, Italy!
- The annual Captain Auction/Party is our PTO's primary fundraiser. Proceeds help provide specialty teaching resources, field trip funding, and of course, many Captain community events throughout the school year, like International Night and the Family Dance.
- Captain is the ONLY Clayton school that raises money for the PTO by throwing an annual PARTY in concert with an auction! Instead of paying dues each August, parents can join together for a fun night out while supporting the PTO.
