Marvelous Monday

Great way to start the day! "We didn't even plan it!"

Questions for the dinner table:
Four less than 19 is _______?
How do you read aloud a book like an expert? (ex: Mark interesting parts, show the feeling in each part, figure out how the book is organized, study books like a writer, explain and think about key words, use drama to bring the topic to life)
What questions did your reader have about your teaching book today? How did you teach your readers?
Spell the word shop, that, and chap.

Growth Mindset
In collaboration with our amazing gifted education teacher, Mrs. Winkler, we have been working to teach our class about the importance of grappling, taking risks, and persevering. Below is the graphic that your child is familiar with through our work in the classroom with growth mindset. We use this graphic during discovery time, reading, writing, and math. Next week, each child will also have a personal copy of this graphic on their desk as a reminder that learning takes some risk and that growth isn't always easy. We have been celebrating the times that we grapple with hard problems, that we work through challenging words, and that we continue to work even when something isn't going as planned. Being in the yellow zone isn't always easy, but it's apart of our academic, social, and emotional growth.
